During Late Trimester Can Thick Brown Mucus Discharge Indicate Mucus Plug Lose?

I'm 38 weeks and 4 days pregnant. After my gyno appointment last week (June 30th) I came home and noticed a little blood on my underwear and thought it was because my doctor checked me internally. The next morning it happened again but was more brown and thick. And everyday since then I've been leaking a thick light brown substance. I searched online and thought I've been loosing my mucus plug. The mucus plug pictures I seen online look very similar to what has been coming out of me. Last week my doctor said I was 1.5 cm dilated so I'm starting to open up. I'm not having contractions or pain. Does thsi sound like my mucus plug! It's not watery so I don't think I'm loosing fluid. It's thicker and pasty. Thanks.

After 38 weeks, blood stained mucous plug is highly suggestive of 'show'. Moreover, your doctor has informed you that the mouth of the uterus is 1.5 cms dilated. That confirms that mucous plug is suggesting that you are in imminent labour. The mucous plug of show is never watery. If along with you are getting pains, rush to the hospital; if it seems you will start pains soon. Be prepared to welcome your baby now. All the best.
