Dull Pain In Upper Abdomen. Had Severe Heartburn, Nausea, Cramps, Diarrhoea Previously. Having Tiredness. Stomach Virus?

I’ve had a chronic dull ache in the upper abdomen/ stomach area for ~4/5 weeks. This sometimes gets worse at night and feels more cramp like. One incident when I woke in the night feeling extremely nauseas and with severe heartburn , my stomach was really cramping and my whole body was shuddering. One acute incident of diarrhea . Feeling very tired. Is it some sort of stomach virus?

Hello Good Evening,

This might be related to stomach and duodenum, like gastric or duodenal ulcers, now associated with a viral/bacterial infection.

You did not describe about your habits like alcohol or smoking because you could be suffered from gastric or duodenal ulcers which can present with atypical symptoms also, like you feel, but later on they can convert into burning sensation and pain.

So go for a UGI Endoscopy to rule out any Gastritis or duodenal ulcers, but there are strong chances to having these, so you will find definitive diagnosis and treatment.

Your medications should be follows:

1. Tab. Ofloxacin+Ornidazole/Ofloxacin-Cefixime
2. Cap. Pantoprazole+Domperidone
3. Cap. Lactic acid bacillus

But exact management will be decided by your GP after go through your investigations and clinical examination.

For prophylaxis you should:
-avoid unhygienic and raw food, contaminated water;
-keep habit of proper hand washing before food and after defecate
-keep good sanitation around you.

Regards,

Dr. Naresh Jain.
