Due For Partial Hysterectomy. Fibroids, Painful Periods. Suggested Mini C Section. Time To Recover?

Hello, I am scheduled to have a partial hysterectomy in two weeks. I have fibroids that are the size of a three to four month fetus. I have painful periods. The doctor said that I would be a good candidate for a mini C- section because the fibroids are so large. How long should I expect to be in the hospital? How long should I be in recovery, 6 to 8 weeks? That's what I keep hearing. : ) When will I feel normal again, 6 months to a year? When can I start my kegel exercises? I have OBD. I had 3 kids, vaginal births. The youngest is 14 years old. : ) Thanks.

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

After any surgery, surgical wound needs minimum 6 weeks to heal properly if post operative period is uneventful. After this minimal activities can be done, which avoids pressure over surgical wound. Wound regains its strength after 3-4 months by fibrous tissue formation. After this you can start doing your exercises.Normally hospital stay will be for 3 to 4 days depends on your surgery and your treating doctors decision.

Hope this helps you
