Dry Patch Of Skin Inside Nostril, Itchy, Painful. Finished A Cold. What Could Be This?

I have a dry patch of what appears to be skin in the inside of my nostril, on the cartilage side. It it somehow itchy, a little painful when I move my nose and sometimes it seems to outfrow so I get to take small parts of it away. I live with 2cats, my appartment is dry, and I just finished a cold it started during my cold/sinusitis. I've put polysporin on it but it didnt seem to change anything. What is it ?

Hi,

You seem to have a condition called Vestibulitis of Nose. It is usually an infection in the skin of the nostril and can be quite painful. Proper treatment should be taken without fail as it could lead to infection traveling to even brain if ignored.

Please see a nearest ENT surgeon so that it can be clearly examined. Meanwhile do the following things.
1. Do not pick nose.
2. Apply Neosporin H Skin ointment on the site with clean fingers without hurting with your nails.
3. You may have to start on an antibiotic - (Amoxicillin 500mg three times a day for five days). (I would suggest you meet the ENT surgeon closeby before starting the antibiotic).

Regards,
Sreenivasan
