Done Dissectomy In Lower Lumbar Area. MRI Normal. Difficulty Moving Legs. Opinions?

my wife just had a discectomy 2 days ago in the lower lumbar area just about 1-2 inches below the spinal cord according to our neurosurgeon. right after in recovery she could not move her legs or feet, the dr. did an emergency MRI and it showed that everything was as it should be, no clots or bone fragments. she has complete feelings in all lower extremities but very little movement. he's confident that she will regain full movement and said she will need physical therapy... any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated...

Hello,

Postsurgically after a spine procedure there are certain complications that are expected.
Because the organic causes are ruled out by MRI there may be to reasons attributed to it.
One due to manipulation during surgery there may be some minimal disturbance in the nerve will which recover postoperatively.

Secondly the effect of anaesthesia may have a similar effect. Recovery is the norm.
