Does This High Blood Pressure Need ER Admission?

my mother is 65 yrs. old and in poor health-- she is detoxing from oxycodone- 5 mgs. she takes about 10 pills a day! she is staying with me now and i want to make sure that she is ok--- just checked her bp and it is 205/135. i am wondering if i should call an ambulance? please help!

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, i would explain that such a high BP (205/135 mmHg) value needs urgent medical evaluation and treatment, as it may be complicated with serious organs implications (cerebral bleeding, retina injury, pulmonary edema, acute kidneys injury, etc).

So, my advice is to immediately as for medical help!

Meanwhile sub-lingual nitroglycerin spray, nifedipine 10 mg, or captopril 25 mg, may be of some help to lower BP values.
