Does Tetralysal Cause Deformity In The Baby While Pregnancy?

Hi. I just found out that i'm 6weeks pregnant and i have been on tetralysal but i did stop the moment i found out. My question: what are the risks on my case of my baby being born with a deformity? I think i was on the medication for about two weeks or so.

Hello ma'am and welcome.

Tetralysal with the active ingredients of lymecycline is an antibiotic which is contraindicated during pregnancy. Among the effects it can have on the fetus, the more common ones include discoloration of the teeth of the child and also an inhibition in growth of skeletal tissue.

I would not worry too much and would request you to go about extra monitoring of growth and development of your baby by requesting your doctor to see if at all the cycline has had an effect on the child. I am positive and am hoping for nothing at all abnormal.

Hope this helps.

Best of luck.
