Does Taking Prednisone Cause Irritation In Stomach And Intestine?

Long story short. I was prescribed prednisone to correct what I thought was a sinus infection. After taking 2 tablets, I began experiencing severe stomach and intestinal irritation. I went back to the physician and was given Nexum for my stomach upset. Two days later I was in the ER and was diagnosed with Diverticulitis, and I was treated with two antibiotics through IV and 10-days of followup oral. Now my hands and my feet, especially my feet are peeling in layers. I want to know if the prednisone has caused this peeling. Thank you

Hi & Welcome to HCM.
Incomplete data: Age, gender, names of the prescribed antibiotics, etc.
Yes, Prednisone can cause irritation in the stomach resulting in inflammation, ulcer or bleeding.
You seem to have developed an allergic reaction resulting in peeling of the skin or exfoliative dermatitis which seems to be due to use of certain antibiotics like Sulfonamides, Penicillins, Cephalosporins, or Fluoroquinolones. Prednisone is unlikely to cause the peeling of the skin.
Hope this answers your query.
