Does Sulfameth Trimethoprim Cause Staining Of Teeth And Cavities?

I ve been taking sulfameth trimethoprim for seven months and I notice that I have staining of my teeth that is very noticeable...the medication is helping with acne but will this staining permanently damage my teeth if I continue the medication? Does it cause cavities?

Hello,

Staining of teeth is reported among patients using Sulfamethoxazole Trimethoprim, but this is temporary staining. It will fade and disappear once the medication has been stopped. So far, cavity is not reported and not related to teeth staining. But to me, I think you have taken enough antibiotic for acne (7 months already). It's time to change antibiotic or treatment strategy. Discuss it further with your caring doctor.
