Does Smoking Cause Infertility?

I am Tried while pregnant to stop smoking cigarettes. I thought maybe smoking black and milds would help me since you don t smoke as many or often. I just had a conversation with a friend and she told me that smoking the cigars is way worse. What is the actually the truth? Are they worse then cigarettes?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. The tobacco in cigars is unfiltered which makes them more harmful than cigarettes. However, smoking altogether is dangerous and should be absolutely avoided, especially during pregnancy.

There are two ways to quit smoking. You can either cut back on your use and decrease the amount of smoking till you quit till or you can quit it cold turkey. If you think you cannot quit cold turkey, I would advise you to go for Nicotine Replacement Therapy products and use nicotine patches or lozenges to quit.

In addition, you can take help of the rehabilitation centers or a mental health counselor or psychiatrist who can counsel you and can help you with the withdrawal symptoms.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM, Take care.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
