Does Running For Long Time Cause Appendix To Burst?

I am a 14 year old male, roughly 6 1 and i don t know how much I weigh. My appendix just burst, and i had the surgery and everything is fine - but I am wondering what caused it. I had run 10 miles on saturday, something not uncommon for me (although is is pretty long). Is the appendix related to the running?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
There has not been any case reported that running causes appendicitis or ruputure. In fact untreated or poorly managed inflammation and infections have been reported to cause rupture of appendix. You must have ignored or missed the signs of appendicitis initially. If operated on time it will not have ruptured.Operation after rupture is little more extensive than in normal surgery. And the time taken for recovery and chances of complications are more.Any way all is well that ends well.
