Does Regular Intake Of Cetrizine Cause Delayed Periods?
Hi so I ve been taking the medication cetirizine once a day everyday for about 2 months from October 16th to now. I had a regular period in October however I skipped a period in November and still haven t gotten a period this month. I ve taken 3 pregnancy tests and they ve all been negative. Is it possible that the medication is causing me to have a delayed period?
This is not a known side effect of this medication.
There are other causes of delayed period since pregnancy has been ruled out by repeated testing: (1) emotional stress or illness (2)abnormal levels of thyroid hormone (3)physical illness (4)high prolactin hormone levels (5)extreme physical activity (6)polycystic ovarian syndrome
Blood tests to check thyroid hormone levels, prolactin levels may be needed. Additional blood tests for polycystic ovarian syndrome may also be required.
Imaging of the uterus, ovaries may also be required , this is done when polycystic ovarian syndrome is suspected.
I hope this helps
