Does Prothiaden Pose Any Effects During Conception?

Sir, I recently went through a phase of depression. I am taking Prothiaden and Feliz s10 as the medicines. This will be continued for next 6 months (with gradual decrease of amount). I am planning for a baby soon. Will the medicines affect it anyway? I mean in conceiving or health of the baby?

Thanks for posting your query.
Prothiaden can cause high levels of hormone called prolactin, which can delay periods & hence pregnancy. Hence after discussion with your psychiatrist,if possible & safe to do so, we can change your medication to an alternative which gives good mood control without affecting prolactin levels. As pregnancy is a period of roller -- coaster emotions- its very important your psychiatrist to say its ok for you to conceive. Once you are off medication & your mood is stable enough then pregnancy should not be a problem. Its a good idea to meet a gynecologist & do the pre -pregnancy work up also.Hope this helps, Take care!
