Does Nicotine Cause Bowel Irritation?

I have diverticulosis and had acute diverticulitis in mid April with a small perforation. I have been using nicotine gum, (chronically) how much of a bowel irrritant is the nicotine from the gum????Age 57, 5'8",had a inguinal hernia at age 19 repaired.

diarrhea,dizziness,heartburn,hiccups,mouth, tooth, jaw, or neck pain,problems with teeth,unusual tiredness or weakness.
