Does Menopause Contribute To Less Acid Production?

I know I m experiencing menopause symptoms, I m definitely having night sweats. Recently the mild digestive issues I had been having have gotten much worse. My stomach hurts, sometimes it burns. I have some reflux. I ve been doing research and found that in many cases it s low stomach acid rather than too much (my doctor simply told me to take Zantac). How can I know which it is? Does menopause cause more acid to be made? Or does it contribute to less acid production?

Hi

Menopause and low estrogen levels is associated with reflux symptoms in many patients.

Irrespective of the caue, the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux is administration of H2 blockers like ranitidine or proton pump inhibitors like rabeprazole.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
