Does Macular Degeneration Cause Pain And Fatigue In The Eyes?

My eyes age 63, are awesome for long distance seeing/driving, but need glasses for up-close (any reading music etc....I need them on), so therefore glasses are on and off, 10000 times each day, Constantly, my eyes feel tired and hurt. I have a macular disease and wonder if that might contribute how they feel. I self examine the reasons and conclude that the in-betweens ..I squint, as I am doing right now writing this to you. Just went to eye Dr. and his conclusions were....no problems!Help
