Does Low WBC Count Cause Severe Fatigue?

I have MDS, just completed an aggressive round of chemo. getting transfusions when needed. I have a very low white blood count, which I understand infections can be an issue. But my question is, I am so tired, does low white blood count make some people tired? Tina

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

WBC low count makes the patient infection-prone and weakness may follow infections. Only low WBC counts do not cause tiredness.

In case it is accompanied by low RBC count then there is less oxygen supply nobody and this can cause tiredness.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
