Does Lisinopril Cause Any Bowel Problems?

I take 40 mg Lisinopril (20 twice daily) and have noted an increased frequecy of stools.... several small stools a day versus previous one good-sided stool a day. The stools are small little lumps and indeed may sneak throught my anus into my pants if I am not careful. I also have taken Sotalol and norvasc.. Do you suspect these meds as a cause of my new problem?

Hi,

No. Lisinopril could cause edema in the foot, some dry cough and swelling in the eyelids. However, it does not cause bowel problems.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Salah Saad Shoman, Internal Medicine Specialist
