Does Intercourse During Pregnancy Cause Belly Tightness?

Dear Dr.Chetana, Good morning, My wife is pregnant and its almost 14 th week (03-Jul-11) was the time when she had her last period. Last Monday (07-Nov-11) we were involved physically and intercourse was part of it. From the next day onwards my wife is feeling lightness in her belly which was not present earlier (the tension or tightness in her belly has come down.) We both are very worried as the doctor we are consulting is out of town ad will be returning on Monday. Please tell me what could be the reason for this lightness feeling in her belly. Regards CR

Hello dear,I understand your concern. In my opinion forceful intercourse might lead to uterus irritation leading to tightness.Or sometimes urine infection or vaginal infection also might lead to similar picture but there will be associated urinary symptoms or altered vaginal discharge respectively.Take panadol for pain and bed rest.Avoid physical strain. If not subsiding consult your doctor to rule out any infection.
Best regards.Dr.srilatha
