Does Hernia Cause Rectal Bleeding?

Hi. My husband thinks he is has a hernia under his left rib cage. We do not know for sure because we do not have insurance. He said he has known it to have it for about 10 yrs. However, he has mention bleeding. He keeps postponing a doc s check up. I am scared. He works cleaning carpets and has to use weights often. Does it sound like hernia? hernia causes bleeding? (rectal)

Hello,

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Spigelian hernia may possible at left hypochondrium. It may be enlarged spleen or mass originating from ribs or abdominal wall etc.

Please get it done ultrasound abdomen and consult your surgeon he will examine and treat you accordingly.
