Does Fungal Infection Cause White Spots On Tonsils?
I went to the dr yesterday for white spots on my tonsils. I have no fever and the strep test came back negative. Today my throat is real sore and I have more spots. The dr did think I might have a fungal infection in my throat due to alot of antibiotics I have taken in the last eight months. I'm on diflucan right now. I have had issues with having a feeling of a lump in my throat for months. Does this type of infection cause white painful spots on your tonsils?
I am sorry to hear that you have been having sore throat over the past week. Since you have been on numerous antibiotics recently and your strep test was negative there is a good possibility that you have thrush or candida/fungal infection in the throat. The white patches usually appear on the soft upper palate and also on the insides of the mouth. These areas can be painful and feel like you have something caught in your throat. I do recommend that you continue to take your antifungal medication but if you do not improve soon then seek medical attention again
