What Causes Vaginal Fungal Infection And Itching?

hi, im having a vaginal mycosis (fungal infection) and it is very itchy since 5days, I consulted my doctor and she prescribed diflucan 150mg and travocort cream to be applied. she also said there are white spots there which she thinks is a fungal infection. However when i apply the cream, it becomes really itchy after some time and does not stop. is this normal?

Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
What medications has been prescribed is fine for the treatment of fungal infection of vagina. Kindly take the medications as prescribed.
However, along with it, you need to do the following to get better soon.
1. Wash the area with mild antiseptic solution like Savlon twice daily.
2. Take a course of oral antibiotics Tablet. Metronidazole, as you could be having associate bacterial infection as well.
3. Take Tablet. Levocetirizine once a day to overcome itching.
4. Use vaginal pH balancing solution like 'v was' regularly.
5. Wear loose fitting undergarments to provide proper ventilation.
6. Abstain from sexual activities till the symptoms subside completely.
Maintain good personal and genital hygiene. Gradually, you should get better from such symptoms.
