Does Frequent Thirst And Urination Indicate Diabetes?
Hi i am kate. I am in relationship with my boyfriend for 2 years. We live together. We never had sex but we slept together for a number of times without indulging into sex. I am worried that I am not experiencing my period this month. Last month it started on 6 Jan 2010. I feel thirsty and frequently urinate. I am also gaining weight. My father is diabetic. Is this a diabetes or pregnancy?
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. Polyuria, polydipsia are classical signs of diabetes mellitus along with polyphagia. However, these are seen only in 10% of the cases. 2. However, as sex is seen, however diabetes mellitus cannot be ruled out. 3. Get a fasting blood sugar or HbA1C level checked. If normal, get a pregnancy test done. It appears most possibly diabetes due to your family history. However, testing is necessary and confirmatory. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
