Does Emergency Contraception Cause Irregular Periods?

I recently took emergency contraception, two weeks later I was due on my period and i was late which isn't normal for me. It didn't last long and was really light, a couple of days later I started bleeding again and have been for around two weeks. why could this be?

Hi,

It could be because of the emergency pill. You could have been pregnant and getting aborted. Maybe that's why you are getting heavy bleeding. Check urine pregnancy test once and if it is positive then it could be the reason. If negative wait until next periods if it the same as more than two weeks take a gynecologist consultation and do a pelvic scan to rule out other anatomical abnormalities.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
