Does Avoiding Inner Wear Have Any Harmful Effects?

I do not wear undershorts. Our mother never put them on us as kids. The same is true for my brothers and sisters (who rarely wear bras). My girlfriend tells me that this is bad for men. I have never had any health issues with this. Should I be concerned?
