Does Aspirin Help To Treat Headaches And Tonsillitis?
hi
i have tonsilitis, was treated with Rocephin 2G daily for two days then changed to augumentin 625mg twice daily
i have now taken it for two says. There is no change to how i feel except temp is gone down. I still have headaches and the tonsils are covered with white patches and swollen. i have pain on swallowing and a nasty taste in my mouth. My doctor says i dont need to do anything else except Aspirin guggles, she thinks it is viral thats why it has not responded to antibiotics. My fear is that it could be Streptococci which ive had before and feels the way i did when i had it. What should i do? is this the right course of treatment?

Your infection seems to be viral in nature based on history.
Still you can get oral swab the gram stain and culture & sensitivity for aerobic/anaerobic bacteria.
Just do saline/chlorhexidine gargles and anti-inflammatory and analgesic, antacids and mutivitamins.
Viral infections are self limiting and sometimes take few weeks.
