Does Alcohol Consumption Cause Severe Anxiety?

how can excessive alcohol usage, such as a binge of 12 to 18 beers in a day, cause anxiety to the level of almost paralysis throughout the entire next day. Rapid Heart beats could last up to a half hour, tingling in arms, chest, and back, pressure in the temples to where it makes you think something is going to burst, or fainting could occur? A binge from 2 to 3 months apart have always happened for the last 10 years, in the earlier stages at 16 going forward, binges were more frequent, but this has been happening for the last year or so. Is this normal? Is it possible for my body and mind to reject alcohol?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your description it seems like severe alcohol dependancy. Alcohol can cause anxiety and panic attacks. You need immediate treatment to avoid catastrophic complications. Consult a psychiatrist and it is better to get admitted in a de-addiction institution.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
