Does Advair Contain Any Form Of Albuterol And Which Other Medicine Can I Use Post Pneumonia And Flu?

After being released from the hospital for pneumnia and flu yesterday they gave me advair. I had previously experienced a severe reaction to albuterol. Today, I used the advair they prescribed and my jaw locked up, my throat closed down and I had a hard time breathing. Does advair contain any form of albuterol? I know the reaction was not good and potentially deadly so I hesitate to take the Rx again. However, I am short of breath and lungs still sound bad.

Advair contains fluticasone which is a steroid and salmeterol is a beta adrenoreceptor agonist which is long acting.Albuterol is short acting beta adrenoreceptor agonist.So if you are allergic to albuterol there is a high posibilty for salmeterol also.So better to contact your doctor and get the drug replaced with another one.Hope this may help you.
