Does Tiffa Intake Cause Side Pregnant Woman?

hello doc im 25 years old and 20 weeks pregnant. im hypo thyroid.im using thyroxine 50mcg.doc advised me to go for tiffa .is there any harmful effect to my baby due to radiation of tiffa?is it necessary for every one to go for tiffa?do my thyroid problem will have any effect on my baby?

Hi,

A TIFFA scan or a Targeted Imaging for Fetal Anomalies is also popularly known as fetal anomaly scan. It is usually performed between 18-23 weeks of pregnancy and ultrasound is the main diagnostic tool that is used to detect congenital abnormalities. Ultrasonography is a safe investigation and the radiation does not affect pregnancy. Hence you can definitely do the scan without any issues.
