Does Terazosin HCL Cause Dry Cough And Swelling In The Legs?

My husband has been taking Terazosin HCL for approximately 1month. He has started with a dry cough that takes his breath away and also his feet ankles and legs are swelling up with the skin on legs being shiny and red. Is this a side effect to this new medicine??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Terazosin drug can cause swelling. It does not usually cause a cough but may cause a runny nose. If he is coughing due to a runny nose then this could be from the Terazosin.

There are many causes of swelling and some are serious. He should see his doctor soon. He may need a medication change.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Kathy Robinson
