Does Sertraline Taken With Cerazette Cause Irregular Bleeding?

Hi Would taking Sertraline along with Cerezette cause irregular bleeding. I have been on cerezette for many years and after giving birth too my first son in September 2013 started back on in two weeks after birth after seeing my doctor. Since then and since starting sertraline in November 2014 i have suffered from painful cramps, irregular bleeding and hot sweats, i had a smear test in Jan and all was clear and have also had an internal/scan to check nothing causing the irregular bleeding Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi

There are no drug interactions likely to occur on taking Sertraline with Cerazette.

The symptoms may be due to intake of hormonal pills just two weeks after giving birth.Your body needs to adjust to the hormonal changes.T he symptoms may reduce in the subsequent days.

Incase of persisting symptoms, you can consider to switch over to other methods of contraception such as barrier methods for a few months.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
