Does Parlodel Cause Side Effects?

Hi, I was diagnosed with a prolactinoma about 22 years ago. I ve taken Parlodel (Bromocriptine) since it was diagnoses. I was recently talking to a pharmacist who told me that the medication can in some cases (not common but possible) cause alcohol and/or gambling addiction. Is this true ? Thanks

Hi,

Parlodel contains bromocriptine which is used to treat symptoms of hyperprolactinemia including lack of menstrual periods, discharge from the nipples, infertility, hypogonadism etc and symptoms of Parkinson's disease like tremors, stiffness, muscle spasms, poor muscle control and acromegaly etc. Side effects of Parlodel are headache, depression, dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, tiredness, loss of appetite, diarrhea, spinning sensation, dry mouth, stuffy nose, GIT upset, stomach pain, constipation, rapid breathing, rapid heartbeats, chest pain, back pain, confusion, hallucinations, loss of balance, tarry stools, anxiety, allergic reactions, alcohol consumption makes more dizzy or drowsy in case of using this medication etc.
