Does Lisinopril Cause Shortness Of Breath And Reduce The Pulse Rate?
I M TAKING UPTO 3 B/P MEDS A DAY: AMIODIPINE BEESYLATE 5MG, LISINOPRIL 20 MG, AND WHEN THAT DOESN T LOWER B/P I USE THE 3RD TRIAMTERENA 37.5 MG. I BECOME SHORT OF BREATHE EASY & HAVE TO SIT DOWN. SOMETIMES LIKE FREEZING OF LUNGS. B/P GOES LOW AND PULSE RATE GOES UP TO SET ME DOWN TO RECOVER. CAN ANY OF THE THREE MEDS CAUSE THIS PROBLEM? MY # S ON LABS ARE IN RANGE. I STAY IN HOUSE AND KEEP B/P CLOSE TO 120/80. WHEN I DO ANYTHING: LOW B/P HIGH PULSE RATE. HAVE HEART DR AND M.D. TEST WITHIN RANGE. THANKS!
Based on the history you have shared, the high pulse or heart rate with low blood pressure is a side effect related to amlodipine.
Also if you experience feet swelling or generalized body swelling that may also be caused by amlodipine.
Lisinopril can, however, cause dry cough as well as lungs symptoms due to increased susceptibility to allergic attacks so it should be monitored as that might be causing the lung symptoms in your case.

If Echocardiogram is normal and you are experiencing high blood pressure you can discuss using losartan or valsartan with diuretics like hydrochlorothiazide. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
