Does Leuprolide Acetate Injection Cause Low SPA Levels?

Ok thanks. I am taking leuprolide acetate 7.5 injection. Took 1st injection 6 months ago. I have prostate cancer of Gleason score of 6 /7 And 6/6. My SPA level has dropped to 3.38. It was 6.9 before injection. And 17.9 a year ago when I started treatment in Africa before moving to the USA. I am programme for a second injection next week. I don t have insurance and pay from pocket. I was advised to do radiation but I don t have money. My question is can I just continue with this injection indefinitely?

Hello welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

Are you a diagnosed case of malignancy of prostate. Taking chemo radiation therapy useful for complete recovery.
Men with localized prostate cancer who are treated with external-beam radiation therapy have a cure rate of 95.5% for intermediate-risk prostate cancer and 91.3% for high-risk prostate cancer. The 5-year survival rate using this treatment is 98.8% overall. But taking Luprolide itself not effective to treat prostate malignancy.

Hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
