Does Codeine Phosphate Aggrevate High Blood Pressure?
As part of a medical management plan, for a very serious medical condition, I have been taking codeine #3 on a scheduled basis every day. The pill has a 3 on the back. Recently, my pharmacy switched brands and my tylonel #3 has a U36 on the back. The pharmacy told me that this was the exact same formula. I took the pill and knew it was not the same formula. I looked it up and saw that they had switched my plain codeine for codeine phosphate. I also take hydralazine for high blood pressure, and i am convinced that the phosphate has worsened that condition. I am also certain, that this changed formula does not properly treat my medical condition. Can a pharmacy legalizing do a formula prescription switch like this? Regular tylonel 3 - without phosphates - have no side effects for me at all.

As per my clinical experience, there can be low heart rate with Codeine Phosphate as side effect, but BP elevation is not a usual side effect.
So far as legal aspects are concerned for prescription change, you should better discuss with your family doctor.
