Hi, I am pregnant and 19 weeks now.I had severe preeclamsia during my first pregnancy and took my baby out through emergency c- section @ 31 weeks. My question is taking baby aspirin now will reduce the risk of preeclamsia again or not?? And second question is I have terrible ulcerative colitis for past 4 years & I'm not taking any medicines for that except Imodium to prevent occasional diarrhea . Is it safe to use Imodium ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response

Hi,
I understand your concern.
Yes, low dose of aspirin prevents preeclampsia.
Since it is in very low dose & it is known to be absorbed early,It is contraindicated in gastric ulcers .
it is not likely to cause harm in ulcerative colitis.
Thanks
