Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello Doctor, First, I am 80 years old and developed gout about five years ago for which I take allopurinal. Some time after the onset of the condition and taking the medication I began to notice my urine having a very strong odor. I don't know if the two things are related to my problem or not. I've mentioned this to my doctor, but he kind of side-steps the question. Do I have cause for concern? Thanks, Fred
Thanks for asking Healthcare Magic, 1. The odor of urine is not common side effect of Allopurinol but some patients have reported it.But it is not a cause of concern.
In my opinion you take plenty of water it may help in reducing it. Thank you
