Do Preterm Labor Medicines Cause Painless Contractions And Lightheadedness?

my daughter was in the hospital last week for premature labor, she was 2 cm dilated and had mucas discharge they stopped the labor with magnisim and gave her steroid shots for the babys lungs...today she became very light headed and almost passed out..she has eaten and drinks gallons of water a day she was at her doctor mon and showed signs of contractions with no pain Is this normal after preterm labor meds and what should she do?

Hello,
Medications given to lessen preterm contractions often cause fall in blood pressure and this, in addition to the vascular changes caused by the pregnancy itself, may have caused the dizziness. It is obvious in view of the threatened preterm labor she is in that she should lie in bed as much as possible, preferably with foot end elevation and this also helps in allaying the hypotensive effects. Watch should be kept for any evidence of inevitable labor as she needs early medical attention in such an instance in view of the preterm child. Hope this helps.
