Do Mood Swings And Irregular Period Denote Menopausal?
I am 45 years old female. My periods became irregular in the past 2 years to the point that I am missing my last one for 3 months. I gained weight (40 lbs) that now is impossible to lose with diet and exercise. In my family all females entered menopause after 55. I got my hormones tested and the Dr said they are in balance.I am moody and unpleasant to be around, I feel miserable, not happy with myself at 180lbs. I am doing Zumba 4 times/week and I am not losing a lb. or inch. What is wrong with me?

Hi Thanks for asking HCM I have gone through your query. The symptoms of you can be premenopausal. In 45 some ladies get menopause. For some the irregular cycles will go till 2 to 3 years before getting menopause. You should rule out thyroid problem by doing a thyroid profile also. It is better to have a consultation with gynecologist. Hormone replacement therapy like estrogen therapy will give relief of symptoms. Usualy progesterone is also given along with estrogen to reduce the risk of uterine cancer. Let me know if you have any further query Have a nice day.
