Do Folic Acid Tablets Have An Effect On The Menstrual Cycle?

Hi. I ve been taking folic acid over the past 6weels and I m now delayed for my period (nearly 2 weeks) I took a pregnancy test a week ago and another last night and it s not showing positive. Can folic acid interfere with my cycle? Ive always been regular as I ve been on the pill.

Hi,

Folic acid does not interfere with periods. Actually, it's advised to people opting for pregnancy. It helps for healthy gamers and healthy fetus. You said you were regular in periods as you were taking the pill (is it Progesterone hormonal pill). Is the delay you have follows stoppage of the pull? That creates some confusion. If the delay is after withdrawing 'the pill' you need to cross check by one more test and then get investigated for your menstrual disorder.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
