Do Fluctuating Blood Sugar Levels From 196 To 156 Suggest Diabetes?

I have a fasting blood glucose level of 196, then ate a bowl of vegetables and went for a walk and an hour later had a reading of 182. I thought my reading would go up, not down. Another hour later the reading was 185, and another hour later the reading was 156. I have not been diagnosed with diabetes, but these readings seem very unusual to me. I had issues with thirst and frequent urination for a few days, but they have gone away at least for now. Am I already diabetic?

Hello. Your fasting glucose level satisfies the criteria for diabetes. In such a situation you need to do two more tests. One is a two hr 75 gm glucose tolerance test and the next is a Hba1c which is an average glucose level of the preceding three months. Gtt is highly accurate in diagnosis and a1c is rather convenient. If possible do both. The likelihood of you being a diabetic is highly likely. Please evaluate at once. Do not delay as high sugars are detrimental to health both in the short and long run. Hope this helps. Take care.
