Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
There is no writing here regarding eyelash loss due to wearing contacts. I have no other issues with my eyes and prefer wearing contacts rather than glasses, but have not taken a break from them. I have quite a loss of lashes and do not wear lots of makeup or am I using a curler. To your knowledge, has there been proof that contact lenses cause this? Thinking I will wear glasses awhile and get dry eye drops hoping they will grow back!!! Not what I want to do and have had a thyroid check. Please give me any facts regarding this. THANK YOU
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
No, this is not true. Wearing contact lenses can not cause anything to eyelashes. So your loss of eyelashes is not due to prolonged use of contact lenses. Most common cause for this is eye lashes infection (mostly fungal). So try applying fluconazole ointment on eyelashes and see for improvement.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
