Do Clogged And Collapsed Veins Make Placing Catheter Impossible?
My 90 year old father had his dialysis groin catheter removed because it was infected with MRSA. The hospital tried 5 days later to try and place another catheter but had no luck due to the veins either being clogged or collapsed. The last time he had dialysis was 13 days ago and the hospital has said there is nothing that we can do. Should we take him to another hospital to see if they may have better luck in placing a catheter or is it too late? He has stopped talking, eating and drinking for the past three days.
Respected Sir, hi yes it`s possible that collapsed and clogged veins make placing catheter difficult but not impossible all the times. Vein gives resistance till there is clot inside the lumen, once it`s clear partially also it will give way to the catheter. So definite hopes are there you have to go to another hospital for the same with better luck in placing catheter. Be Positive where there is a will there is a way dear thanks regards wishing better healthy life for your father. bye
