Do Antibiotics Work On Rare Cysts Such As Monganella Morganii?
I had a boil on my side. The doctor removed it and said it was a cyst. He sent it to the lab and put me on Cephalexin. Lab tests showed Morganella morganii ssp. morganii. When the doctor read it he said that was very rare and I had already been on an antibiotic. Then he left. Should I be concerned? I read that that antibiotic doesn t work for Monganella morganii.
Hello! I had gone through your query and understand your concern.
Morganella morganii is a species of Gram-negative bacteria. M. morganii has a commensal relationship within the intestinal tracts of humans, that means that this bacter is part of our intestinal normal flora(bacteria that inhabit in our bowels but don't cause any infection). Although M. morganii has a wide distribution, it is considered an uncommon cause of community infection. This bacterium is sensible to Cephalecin and this antibiotic is used to treat this infections.
If you took a full course treatment with Cephalecin than your infection is now cured and you don't need to worry.
Hope it helped. Take care. Dr.Rovena
