Difficulty In Passing Urine Is Common After Inguinal Hernia Surgery?

I had an inguinal hernia surgery and one week later I have difficulty in passing urine. I have an enlarged prostrate and my MD prescribed me Citro XL 1000 Mg antibiotics for 7 days. Is this common following hernia surgery . I was frozen by epidural injection

Hi,
It does not look likely that the hernia operation by itself would cause any difficulty in voiding urine, but it is more likely to be an exacerbation of obstructive lower urinary tract symptoms due to an enlarged prostate. i suggest you get your doctor to check your urine flow rare, and if it is low,say less than 10 ml / sec, you can be started on medications like Flomax which could help ease the difficulty in voiding urine.
