need to find pain management I am a 32 yr old C/67 HAVE OF ARMS BUT NO HANDS USE SO IM A QUAD HAVE FEELING FROM ARMPITS AND UP I HAVE HARDWARE THAT HOLDS MY NECK UP AND A PEICE AT BREAK 6/7 HAD MY LIFE SAVED BY WONDERFUUL DOCS NURSES AT THE MED IN MEMPHIS I GET SHOTS ONCE A MONTH WITH ZERO EFFECT ZERO IM NOT SURE THAT ITS NOT SALEEN IT HURTS ME WORSE TO GET SHOTS THAN THE FIRST TIME THEY HUNG ME UP IN CHAIR??? STILL GET METHADONE HAVE GAINED 150 LBS.WHAT CAN I DO I WENT FROM 150MG FENTENAL PATCHS TO HIGH DOSE OF MEYHADONE NOW THEY WANT ME TO GO TO OPANA MS-CONTIN OR OXY DOES THAT MAKE SENSE???? DO YOU KNOW ANY PAIN DOCS THAT CAN HELP GUIDE ME OR TREAT I NEED SOME GOOD ADVICE THANKS

Thanks for your query. Indeed, either MS Contin or Oxy-contin are long acting opiods, and therefore would be reasonable to use for your chronic pain instead. Methadone can be less effective for chronic pain control in some patients, so it is reasonable to consider the switch. The calculations or conversions should be made by an Addiction and Pain Medicine specialist, which would be the best person to take care of your case.
