Diagnosed With Diabetes, Advised Glycomet. Feel Very Tired. What To Do ?

My husband is 37years old and he was first diagnosed with diabetes about 7months ago. He was having very high blood sugar, fasting blood sugar being 356 and the PPBS being 485. Then he was given Glycomet 850mg thrice a day with Gliclacide twice a day for 3 months. HE is very obese too. Within a month of treatment he had come to the normal range in all the blood test and the dose was changed to Glycomet 500mg twice a day.About a month ago he was feeling very tired and the doctor again changed his drugs aas Glycomet 850mg twice a day. This time his blood pressure was also raised (155/105). So he was given Tazlock 40mg once aday for a month too. These days he is suffering from tiredness again and getting angry very frequently. I checked his PPBS with the Free style optium ultra glucometer and it was 156. What shall I do to make him feel comfortable? Thanks a lot.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Metformine 850 mg & gliclazide tried for diabetes and blood sugar level controlled , very nice to note.
Is obesity was the only reason for diabetes or any other reason?
Clear it.
Now you mentioned that his blood pressure is 155/105 mm of Hg.
Lower one ( 105 ) is very high.
Medicine prescribed , but why diastolic B P high?
Anger may be due to disease or blood pressure( high).
So first of all find out any tension or stress in your house, if then try to control it.
As diabetes is very dangerous disease, hence assessment of this is very important .
In my opinion you should get an ULTRASOUND of abdomen with emphasis over pancreas ( insulin producing organ).
Consult a Diabetologist and get his opinion as well opinion of Cardiologist will help.
Good luck.

Hello,
Uncontrolled diabetes, uncontrolled hypertension and deranged cholesterol levels play havoc with your life and once it is associated with lack of exercises and obesity, your risks get compounded very much.
Make sure that you keep getting yourself tested repeatedly and keep a meticulous control on your blood sugar levels along with blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels.
Make sure that you keep a perfect dietary control and do regular aerobic exercises for at least 45 minutes a day.
You are very young and so it becomes very important for you to be very careful and disciplined so that you can lead your life without attracting unnecessary complications.
Thanks

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.
Now his sugar levels are controlled. We don't expect strict control among diabetic patients with high sugar levels. The tiredness and frequent angry may be due to his varyoig sugar level mostly due to low sugar. Even it may be normal in the readings but for his body it will be low as his body has adjusted for high sugar level. So at that point you can give him small amount of sugar or a chocolate and always do regular exercise and proper nutritious diet with required calorie and adhere to drugs. Never skip food after taking Gliclacide. Consult your doctor for further examination and management.
Hope I answered your question. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries.
Wish you good health. Take care.

Regards
Dr.Lohit
