Hello, Diabetes is a progressive disease and with passage of time oral anti diabetic drugs gradually reduce their efficacy because of progressive loss of beta cells of pancreas. These bets cells are responsible for production of insulin which helps in controlling the blood sugar levels. Although infections and fevers tend to put stress on your system and can destabilise the blood sugar levels but I feel in your case it is not due to the fever as it is present for past three days only. In my opinion your body requires more anti diabetic drugs to control your sugar levels and seems to be natural outcome of such a long history of diabetes. Consult your doctor, get yoursrlf investigated thoroughly and get your prescription of anti diabetic drugs revised. It is said that a diabetic normally starts requiring injectable insulin for control of diabetes around 5-10 years after the diagnosis of diabetes. Thanks
