Cysts Found In Both Breast After Sonography. Why Examination By Breast Surgeon Required?

Hello I m a 56 yr old woman. Had a sono of my breasts. The sono showed 12 simple cysts in rt breast and 2 simple cysts in left all benign findings. Small cysts My Dr would like me to see a breast surgeon for an exam. Why is the Dr concerned? Thank you

Hello madam, well from the history you have given.....yes it is always better to consult a surgeon,since you are 56 years and post menopausal,malignancy has to be ruled...thought your scan shows benign, mostly could be a fibroadenoma,depending on your age factor and post menopausal status, a detail history and a complete physical examination Is required before coming to a conclusion......hope i was helpful to you. ...
