Could Whooshing And Throbbing Sensation In Ears Be An Indication Of Pulsatile Tinnitus?

For the past week I've had a minor disturbance in my left ear. I couldn't tell if it was a collection of wax or if something else (like a tiny piece of my headphone that broke off) went into my ear. I freaked out a little bit and decided to clean my ear our with a q-tip. I did some deep-ish exploration after a shower and then something went wrong! I started her hearing a thumping or throbbing sound from the inside of my ear. I surfed the web for a solution and the couldn't find anything beyond Pulsatile Tinnitus. I can't find a known cause for this situation, so I don't want to jump to conclusion, but I feel like some of the symptoms are similar to what I am experiencing. Aside from the pulsating, I get an acute pain when yawning or belching, and my hearing feels slightly impaired.

The odd thing about this situation is that I've had it for 24 hours and there have been moments were it seems to go away (namely when I take showers, or if I'm outside) which is leading me to believe that it is something pressure sensitive.

To remedy this problem so far, I got an over the counter ear medication called "Anauran" (Italian med). I WILL NOT Q-TIP ANYTHING! I feel like that got me into this mess. I know that an ENT appointment is likely in store, but my wallet would greatly appreciate any insight on this matter or if these symptoms ring a bell! I am 24 hour into the pulsating sound and feel like my whole day have been excerpted from the "Tell Tale Heart". I'm ready for the tale to be over!

HI. This is quite a common occurrence. Q-tip pushes the wax ( after bath wax is softer) inside and in your case it looks you have pushed it enough to get impacted and touching the ear-drum. Get your family member to see if there is a wax inside. If there is no wax, then it would be advisable to see an ENT Specialist. Do not please do anything more at your level.
